JOB DESCRIPTION

PROTECTIVE SERVICES CASEWORKER

  1. FUNCTION:

Works in a multi-functional capacity to provide contracted services in Beaver County in accordance to, The Older Adult Protective Services for Older Adult Act. Act 28, Act 13, Regulations and explanations.

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain confidentiality of cases at all times
  1. Utilizes communication and interpersonal skills to obtain essential information from consumers, families and professionals while conducting an investigation. And at the same time educating and aiding them to obtain available resources.
  1. Performs work in accordance with established regulation, policies, and procedures of the Arc Beaver County developed from BCOA requirements and Protective Services Plan submitted to the Department of Aging.
  1. Utilizes telephone skills to document report of needs directly from others as mandated by Protective Service Regulations and training.
  1. Accept investigations as assigned by supervisor and initiate the investigation in mandated time.
  1. Complete investigations, in a timely manner of the mandated 20 day allotment by the regulations.
  1. Obtain and document information necessary to substantiate/unsubstantiate allegations in the Report of Need. Document all required forms, paperwork, including investigation form, comprehensive assessment, service plan, intake forms, service date forms, transfer forms, etc
  1. Visit consumer residence (home, agency) independently in all areas of Beaver

County and possible occasional responsibilities out of county.

  1. Consult with supervisor on weekly basis of plans and proceedings of casework. Documentation of this consultation in the case narratives.
  1. Attend mandatory Protective Service training’s and participate in available training’s to increase education and skills in social services.
  1. Attend staff meetings and contribute input.
  1. Perform other responsibilities, which may be delegated by the supervisor or Executive Director
  1. Participates in the planning and implementation of public relations.
  1. Remains available as delegated for emergency situations as indicated by the on-call schedule.
  1. Cooperate with social service agencies, hospitals, physicians, courts, family members, and other community resources.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

Equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and 1-2 years geriatric experience. Knowledge of community and supportive services for the older adult in Beaver County. Must meet Act 33 and 34 requirement. Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license and properly insured vehicle for daily use required.
