Beaver County Building Trades Endorse the United Way

February 3rd was the beginning of a rekindling of a great relationship.

Mike Rubino, the Executive Director of the United Way of Beaver County was warmly received by members of the leadership team of the Beaver County Building Trades Council. President Mike McDonald and Sec./Treasurer Larry Nelson introduced Mike to those in attendance.

The United Way, both locally and nationally would have never grown into what it is today if not for the help of union workers and their leaders. However, over the past decade or so this relationship has become distant. At a time when the need is the greatest, the leadership of both sides is eager to UNITE to make a difference.

Executive Director Rubino says “I want to thank the leadership of organized labor for their warm welcome and all the support they have shown me and the people of Beaver County since I started as Executive Director. I pledge to work hand in hand with the union leadership and its members to help our families and neighbors that are less fortunate or who may be struggling.”

President McDonald issued the following memo to all affiliates of the Beaver County Building Trades Council:

To all affiliates:

It’s that time of year where we are offering you the opportunity to help people who cannot help themselves, by sharing in our United Way Campaign. Over the years, organized labor has taken great pride in its support of the United Way. Even in time of economic distress, our members have responded to the needs of the community. As a result, everyone knows someone who has benefited from United Way-funded programs and services.

By working together, we can make sure that these vital human care services are available to our families, friends, neighbors, and fellow workers.

Please consider making a contribution to the United Way of Beaver County, 3582 Brodhead Road, Monaca, PA 15061. It’s a great way to give what matters… helping people in our community.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

Respectfully,

Michael McDonald,
President
