United Way of Beaver County Celebrates Annual Day of Caring

For the past 23 years, United Way of Beaver County has coordinated one of the most exciting volunteer projects in Beaver County – the “Day of Caring”. On Wednesday, September 10th, nearly 100 volunteers with the permission and support of their employers, learned first-hand some of the needs of their community and how their volunteer efforts helped address those needs.

The volunteers were assigned various tasks such as painting, carpentry projects, spending an afternoon with residents of a personal care facility, yard work, etc.   This year’s volunteer sites included: Beaver County Cancer and Heart Association, Beaver County Rehabilitation Center, Beaver County YMCA, Boy Scouts Camp Baker, Family Services of Beaver County, Girl’s Hope, Habitat for Humanity Retail Shop, Homemaker Home Health Aide Service of Beaver County, Lifesteps, Mental Health Assn in Beaver County, Providence Care Center, Women’s Center of Beaver County and the United Way office.

Continued support from the following companies : Columbia Gas of PA, Heritage Valley Health System, First Energy/Bruce Mansfield Plant, Eaton Electrical, Honeywell and several United Way board members, made this another successful event.

The volunteers completed their projects knowing that together they did make a difference and that they are ready to participate again next year. The benefits of the United Way’s annual “ Day of Caring” has a lasting effect for all those involved.
